Lake Highlands High School "Wild for Cats"

May 29th, 2011

Dear Lake Highlands High School Supporter –

The calculators have finished adding up our donations for this school year, and the great news is that we were able to raise $108, 225! All of this money will be used exclusively for Lake Highlands High School during the 2011-12 school year. The best news is that we will be able to fund for the third year Dr. Brenda Prine and her College and Career Counseling Center at LHHS! No other RISD high school has such a resource, and they all want it – and the ONLY reason LHHS has it is the money we have raised and you have provided through Wild for Cats.

That makes over $225,000 we have raised over the past two years through Wild for Cats, and over $800,000 altogether, since we started Wild for Cats in 2005! This money has made, and continues to make, a tremendous difference for our students and faculty at LHHS. Come see the new Major Donor Board hanging in the school foyer, and thank those folks - and all donors – who helped us reach such an impressive total in an economy that continues to be challenging for everyone.

The Texas legislature has just reached a budget deal that, according to initial reports, will reduce funding to RISD by 3.3% next year and 8.4% in 2012-13. In other words, we will continue to receive less money for carrying out greater responsibilities at LHHS. It will continue to be up to the Lake Highlands community to take care of ourselves and our school. Please make Wild for Cats one of the priority organizations for your donation dollars. We need you. It makes a difference for our community and for our future.

GO CATS!!
